Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction, otherwise known as Reduction Mammoplasty, removes both breast tissue as well as excess skin, making the breasts smaller, lighter and perkier. Incisions are made on the breast, however Dr. Freedland will provide more details regarding technique during during your initial consultation. There are several reasons to request a reduction:

• Excess volume or drooping due to pregnancy, weight loss or aging
• Asymmetry or deformity of the breasts
• Back, shoulder or neck pain due to excess weight of larger breasts
• Gynecomastia, also known as increased male breast tissue

Before considering this breast procedure, women obviously need to be in good health and have realistic expectations. When removing breast tissue during a breast reduction skin is also removed. Therefore, not only are the breasts made smaller, but the breasts are lifted. However, this also means that incisions are made on the breast. At your consultation, Dr. Freedland will discuss the various techniques with you so that you understand the risks and benefits of breast reduction.
